I am the DARE coordinator for Centerville-Abington elementary school. Students get to experience DARE class when they reach the sixth grade. The DARE class lasts one hour and is taught once a week by Centerville graduate and Wayne County Sheriff Tom Williams. The DARE program is designed to teach kids about different potentially dangerous situations that may arise in their futures. Drugs, alcohol, and bullying are just a few examples of the topics that are covered in the DARE program. dare graduation and t-shirt
The DARE program runs for the entire first semester of the school year. When the program is complete, students must write an essay about what they learned through DARE class. Once students finish their essay, they are able to go through a graduation ceremony. Before the graduation ceremony, students are given a free DARE t-shirt!
